Alanis, who had worked harvesting tomatoes, cucumbers, and cannabis for over a decade, suffered a fatal 30-foot fall from a rooftop as he attempted to evade federal agents during the July 10 raid. His family says he called his wife in panic while hiding, and hours later, they were told he was hospitalized with a fractured skull, broken neck, and a ruptured artery. He was pronounced dead on Friday morning.
“They told us he won’t make it and to say goodbye,” Alanis’ niece told reporters.
The raid, executed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), was part of a federal crackdown on alleged child labor violations. Over 200 undocumented workers were detained, including at least 10 minors.
Federal agencies have not issued a formal comment on Alanis’ death, though CBP has defended the raids as necessary to combat human trafficking and protect minors in exploitative labor environments.

Add murder to the list of ICE crimes.
Rest in Peace Jaimie Alanis. You were a victim of ICE and its puerile leader, Kristi Noem.
