ICE Agents Terrorizing Los Angeles
July 7, 2025 — A massive show of federal force descended on MacArthur Park Monday as ICE agents, backed by nearly 90 National Guard troops and heavily armed officers on horseback and in tactical vehicles, carried out an immigration operation in the heart of one of LA’s most vibrant immigrant neighborhoods.

The raid, which lasted just over an hour, included 17 Humvees, two ambulances, and multiple ICE tactical units. Agents took up positions around the perimeter of the park, while local residents—including families, children in day camps, and health workers—were ordered to evacuate at gunpoint. No arrests were made.
Mayor Karen Bass condemned the operation as a “political stunt,” warning it would deepen fear and distrust among Los Angeles’s immigrant communities. An 8-year-old child reportedly told the mayor afterward that he was now “fearful of ICE.”
The federal government claims the action was part of a new containment-support model, meant to secure perimeter zones during ICE enforcement, but the sight of troops patrolling a public park has sparked fierce backlash.
MacArthur Park, long a symbol of immigrant culture and resistance, is no stranger to conflict, but this marks a dangerous new escalation.
