Since when does medical staff know a person’s political affiliation? Is this being challenged in the courts? Why can specific protections simply be removed? That seems unconstitutional to me. How do people think this stuff up? I think they are going through Project 2025 and checking things off. If people aren’t reading this document or one of the summaries out there, they need to. It is scary and where this regime is headed. So many things that have happened are straight out of Project 2025. Read it!

This just sickens me. Veterans are all ages. If you’re older, maybe you’ve lost a spouse. Does that mean you won’t get treatment? What next? By height? If your a democrat and can’t get care, then maybe republicans should only be the ones going to war.

More control of the doctors at the V.A .

The doctors will be controlled and watched closely to carry out their wishes . When I was fighting in the infantry , I never cared if my brother in front and back of me was a Democrat or Republican. Black or white , Mexican or Peru Rican . We were all Americans, our blood ran red .

Unfortunately, when the patient registers for a clinic visit the personal information will be provided and it is at that point the patient may be turned away. Doctors will be safe from condemnation with the excuse that it is the system at fault. Be wise about the challenges ahead.

Does this apply to unmarried male veterans, or just the women?

I am a VA doctor. I am HORRIFIED at this EO!!! And it seems the VA is rolling over and saying it’s ok?!!! UNETHICAL! Disgusting. But no doctor I’ve ever known, and certainly none at the VA, would deny ANYONE medical care. WHO IS THIS??!?!!!!!

The Guardian points out it also applies to employees: you can now be fired from working at the VA based on marital status (which probably can't happen too much), and PARTY AFFILIATION... Thinking of those new questionnaires with essays about what of Trump's is your favorite policy and how you will work to support it suddenly has a much different meaning than even a few days ago.

How about unmarried, Democratic doctors?

They can be fired now. If it isn't a specific protection already in law, they can be fired for it. Since marital status isn't something that is illegal to fire for, you can be fired for it. Same for political affiliation.

This just keeps getting more evil and deranged. Veterans fought for this country and it’s freedoms. They didn’t qualify their political affiliation before putting put their lives at risk…”n

The dolt and his sycophants hate veterans. Speaking as a veteran who concurs with Democratic values, I am worried. I live in NC. If they checked my voter registration, I might slip through because I'm registered as unaffiliated (another discussion). Secondly, I worked in healthcare for my entire working life and never asked anyone about their beliefs unless it was brought up by the patient, who did not want a treatment for these reasons.
